Your WEP key and WPA key can be stolen by your friends!! Attention

After the success o our guide to recover the lost WEP key, I want to write about another way to get the the WEP key or the WPA key, and what I want to emphasize in this post is that we all need to pay attention to whom we allow access to our computer, I mean physical access.
You can find this guide in other languages in our forum: http://www.security-exchange.net/forumdisplay.php?f=104

All the WEP and WPA keys are saved in our computer, and we don’t have to re-digit the password everytime we connect if we are using Windows to manage the Wireless connection, with its service Wireless Zero Configuration. If you allow somebody with bad intentions to have access to your PC and you are not looking at what this person is doing, your password can be stolen. How?

They can just download a simple program (WirelessKeyView) from this site: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_key.html, they don’t even need to install it, just double click and they can have all your keys!

Now that you are aware about this possibility, be aware to whom is using your PC. If you have a neighbor that asks you to use your PC for 5 minutes, don’t allow him or just allow, but look at what he is doing, because in 1 minute or less he can get the keys of your WiFI. Then he will thank you, come back home and starts using your internet connection for free! :)

And of course, now that you know about this, don’t go to your neighbor to ask their pc for a second… because they can read this blog as well and know what you are going to do :)
Have secure surfing,

bye
