Chinese filters in every PC – China filters internet traffic – internet pornography

It’s not yet official, but informations coming from the big China are confirming that the internet is going to change and the lives of people there will be more under control.

We all know about Chinese government and how do people live there. I have already written in this post about the Chinese Skype, a new version of the program designed for Chinese customers only, made to filter and control their conversation; but this is not enough for China.

There will be soon a new law there. All the computer companies, before selling desktops and laptops will be obliged to install a program that filters the web. We still don’t know what this software will actually do, but the Chinese press says that it is made to filter the porn sites. This new law had to pass in the last days, but it has been delayed, because – as they say, computer makers need more time to apply the new mandatory configuration on the new computers.

The program that is going to be installed is called “绿坝 花季护航” and you can find the trial for free download here. I am not sure this is the right program, but internet sources like Reuters seeme to confirm it.

What this program does in my opinion is funny, for us that we are not affected. Please let me share with you what Reuters wrote about this program:

When the software is installed, and an image scanner activated, it blocks even harmless images of a film poster for cartoon cat Garfield, dishes of flesh-color cooked pork and on one search engine a close-up of film star Johnny Depp’s face.

So Chinese people won’t be able to see Garfield anymore?

I am sorry, I would like to write more… but I think I have never seen a cartoon of Garfield. And I think it’s the good time to see one.
